Brayden turns 8

Thursday was Brayden's 8th birthday. Friday we went to Tami's for dinner and games and Saturday was his party. We started out at Ci Ci's Pizza for cake and presents and then went to Sky Zone. It was a blast! The kids jumped and jumped. They played dodgeball and everyone loved jumping into the foam pit.

I just knew the kids would be exhausted after all that jumping, but once we got home they wanted to play outside. The weather was beautiful and we spent the the rest of the evening in the backyard. Caden and Paige decided to have an acorn fight. It was all in good fun and was pretty funny to watch. It was a great weekend!

Who needs Taco Bell

I maybe eat Taco Bell once a year. Especially since the whole is their meat really meat thing. Recently they came out with Doritos Tacos. Jimmy brought home a couple for the kids one night several weeks ago and needless to say they loved them. I really liked them too. I love Pinterest and when I stumbled upon the idea of making your own at home I knew it would be a hit. I bought the small bags and made them for dinner tonight. It reminded me of when we used to go to the skating rink and they would give you frito pie right out of the frito bags. It was very yummy. An occasional treat for sure but I can definitely see myself making these this summer. Who needs Taco Bell!

Mustaches and guns

Saturday we went to D.J.'s birthday party. The theme was Little Man. Amy did a great job. All the decorations had mustaches on them. She made a cute mustache cake and had shirts and fake mustaches for all the kids to wear. D.J. loved his cake! Once he got the first taste it was all over. Lol. It was a great party.

After the party my parents watched the kids while jimmy and I went to the gun range. I am getting my concealed handgun license soon along with my own gun. I don't think I have shot a gun since high school. I felt a little out if place at first but after awhile it came back to me. It turned into a mini date and it was actually fun. It was a great weekend!

The dentist and the birthday boy

This morning I took both the kids for a checkup with the dentist. They were due for their 6 month checkup back in November so we were a little behind. There are certain events that catch me off guard sometimes that let me know the kids are getting older. Last time me went both the kids wanted me right by their side for the x-rays and cleaning. Today they both went by themselves. Caden's cleaning was a little more involved and I could hear him fussing to the nurse. But overall they both did well. And no cavities! That is always a plus.

Today was also D.J.'s birthday. I can't believe he is one. Paige and I were able to meet Amy and the boys for some birthday donuts. We also had dinner with them tonight. He is such a sweet baby. It seems like only yesterday we were at the hospital waiting for him to arrive. I am one lucky aunt!

We are excited for the weekend and D.J.'s party. Hopefully the weather will be nice and maybe we can get outside also.

My little treasures

Last week Paige came home with a little gift for me. They had fruit loops for a snack that day at school and she found one that had a heart in the center of it. She said she wanted to give it to me because she loved me. She also told me she had to sneak it out of class because Mrs. Bennett told them to throw away their trash. I was not sure what to do with that. Lol. But since her gift was so heart felt I decided that lesson could be saved for another day. As soon as we got home she knew exactly where she wanted me to keep it. Right next to the heart shaped rock Caden gave me. I am not sure how long you can keep a fruit loop for but I will try. I love all the treasures my babies give to me!

Back to blogging

Well, I have done it again. Weeks have past and all without one blog post. We have been busy getting back into the swing of things with school and work. The end of the year is a busy time for me at work and with the kids being off for Christmas holidays I have had my hands full. So I have just decided to move ahead. I could try and go back and play catch up, but who has time for that?! Lol.

Both the kids are doing well in school. Paige has mastered all her letters and sounds! (Whew! Lol). She is very proud and so am I. Caden continues to do well. It amazes me what they are learning this year. Just today he brought home something new they will be working on. All-about books. We made a list of everything he is an "expert" at and they will use this list at school to write stories. They will have to include a table of contents and everything. Caden seems to grasp the concept and is eager to do them so I guess we shall see.

This week is DJ's first birthday so hopefully there will be more posts to come!
