Happy Father's Day

While we were at Jimmy's grandmothers house I had a chance to look at some old photos.  It was really fun to compare what he looked like to what the kids look like.  I was pretty surprised when I put them side by side, especially the ones of Paige.  It was very neat to see.  Caden and Paige love their daddy.  We are very lucky to have him.  We love you Jimmy!

Wedding weekend

Friday was Danielle and Zach's wedding. Jimmy's mom and grandmother live right by the venue where the wedding was at so we went up early and were able to spend a couple of days visiting with them as well.  Jimmy's mom has two new puppies and the kids were in love with them.  They spent a lot of the time playing with them.
Danielle and Zach had a country themed wedding and everything was beautiful.  She made the perfect bride.  The kids had a blast dancing and making s'mores.  It was a great weekend celebrating the new couple and getting to see Jimmy's family.

VBS 2013

This past week was Vacation Bible School.  It is always a crazy, fun, exhausting week.  I team taught the preschool age children.  We were a little outnumbered, but we managed to have some fun with the kids and I think they all had fun too.  I know Caden and Paige both had a great time.  They spent the week digging around for money for the penny parade.  They were both really into the competition this year.  The boys ended up winning and Paige actually took it pretty well.  I explained to her that the money went to help the victims in Oklahoma and that helped to soften the blow.  There were lots of children saved which is what VBS is all about!  Every year about the third night I think what have I signed up for?!  Lol. And every year when it is over I look back at the week and all the fun and exciting things that happened for The Lord and I know I will sign up again next year.

Enjoying God's creation

I recently purchased the Action Bible Devotional for Caden.  We did our first devotional tonight and it was great!  We started off with God creating the world.  It had several parts.  The bible story, the key verse, x-ray vision (the devotional), your mission, and share the adventure.  After doing the devotional we were excited for the adventure part.  It told us to get moving and go on a nature walk and see what kind of God's creations we could find.

We went to a bike/walk trail that we had never been to before.  I did not realize it was there until I started my running bootcamp.  (That is a whole different post). Lol. Anyways we probably walked 3 miles finding all kinds of creatures and plants.  At the end of the trail was a park and we stopped and played before heading back.  We were very hot and tired so a trip to the snow one place was just what we needed.  We had a great night focusing on God's creation!

Last day of school

Well, it is officially summer.  Yesterday was the kids last day of school.  Jimmy was off and both the kids got out at the same time so we had to split up.  Jimmy picked up Paige and I went early to attend Caden's party and bring him home.  They were both a little sad that school is over.  I got an unexpected call from Paige's school nurse about nine o'clock that she was complaining about ear pain.  I was not totally shocked since she has had a cough for about two weeks now.  But, the nurse said she wanted to stay at school and since she did not have fever that was fine with her. So she finished the day and then it was off to the doctor.  Sure enough she had a really bad ear infection in her right ear.  Boo!  She was feeling a lot better after some motrine and a little time with the heating pad.

I was so glad that she was able to make it the rest of the day so I could go to Caden's party.  The kids had so much fun. He had a chance to say bye to all his friends and I snapped a few pictures.  Of course he wanted one with the one and only Annabelle.  Lol. I laughed when I saw her go get her mom to take a picture of them also.  They really are good friends.  They have been in the same class since pre-k.
Before we knew it it was time to say goodbye.  They both had a great year and we are looking forward to kindergarten and 2nd grade!

Awards day

Today was Caden's awards day at school.  We got a yellow note last week saying we were invited so we knew he was getting some kind of award.  It did not say which ones and this is our first time to go to an awards assembly so I was not sure what to except.  First was perfect attendance.  Nope, I knew that one was a bust.  How do kids make it all year without being sick?  Lol.  Next was academic excellence.  You had to make all E's the entire year in all your subjects. Yay!  I knew this included Caden and he was  super excited when his name was called.  Next was the good citizenship award.  After a rough start in kindergarten I think I might have been most proud of this award.  Lol. He has worked really hard this year on his behavior and it has really paid off!  Last was top reader.  These were the kids that read over 500 books this year.  I knew he read a lot, but I had no idea he read that much.  I was really proud of Caden.  We prayed all summer for God to give him the teacher he needed.  He gave Caden a wonderful Godly young lady that we ended up knowing and Caden loves her so much.  He has had a great first grade year.  I am not sure if we can top it next year but we will try!  We love you Caden! Way to go!

Recital 2013

Saturday was Paige's dance recital.  This year she was in two dances.  Ballet was called Magic Tutu and tap was Ladybug Boogie.  She loves ladybugs so she has been super excited to wear her tap costume.  Recital time is always a little crazy and stressful.  Do we have the right tights, is her makeup right, will she dance or just stand there?  Lol. I feel the same way when she is on stage as when Caden is up to bat.  My normally shy little girl really likes being on stage.  And this year she had lots of friends in the show with her so it added to the fun.  Several people came to see her this year.  My mom and dad, her aunt Amy, her cousins Tami, Danielle and Amanda.  Jimmy's grandmother came and even Mrs. Patricia was there.  All the girls did a great job.  They were so cute!  Paige was  loving the attention and adored the flowers she got from her daddy and my parents.  After the recital Jimmy and I took the kids to Tookies.  I have not been there since high school, but it was just as good as I remembered.  I had to post a picture of Caden eating his burger.  He loves hamburgers and ordered a burger called the Squealer.  It is a half pound burger with bacon mixed in the hamburger patty.  Lol. I did not think he could eat all of it but he did!  He said that Tookies is his new favorite place to eat.  Looks like we will be going back!

Pre-k graduation

What a week we had.  The end of baseball and then Paige's pre-k graduation.  I let Caden miss school so he could attend her graduation ceremony with us.  The kids sang a little song and then each of their names were called.  I managed to keep it together during their performance.  I did however go back that  night and watch her performance again.  I also went back and watched Caden when he was there.  I will admit I cried then.  Lol.  It seems like his graduation was only yesterday.   I can't believe she will be in kindergarten next year. We are a little sad that a great year at school is coming to an end, but we are excited for kindergarten and second grade next year.
