Moody Gardens

Yesterday Amy and I took the kids to see a new exhibit at Moody Gardens.  Sponge Bob's Iceland.  Giant Sponge bob themed ice sculptures in a 9 degree tent.  The detail was amazing and the video before hand was very interesting learning about how they did it all.  We couldn't get over that it was all made of ice.  There was a fun little ice slide the kids enjoyed.  Of course we stopped by the aquarium also and that is always a hit.  We fit in some hot cocoa and yummy snacks before heading home.  We all had a fun day together.

Christmas 2014

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.  We spent Christmas Eve at Tami's house exchanging gifts and playing games.  This year Jimmy had to work days so we woke the kids up at 4:00 am so he could see them open gifts before he went to work.  They woke up easily since they were so excited.  I was hoping they would go back to sleep but that never happened.  Lol.  Later that morning we went to my parents house for our traditional omlet breakfast.  My dad had worked nights but he was a trooper and stayed awake to eat with us.  He only fell asleep once I think.  Ha!  We spent the day playing and that evening went back to my parents to exchange more gifts and eat dinner.
Friday morning we went to Jimmy's dad's house for more Christmas with them.  The kids will be staying with them for the next few days and hopefully I can get my house back in shape after all the fun.

Baking, bikes and more

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I can't believe it is already here.  We are spending our time baking lots of goodies and having fun.  We were able to get out the other day and let Paige have some time on her new bigger bike she got for her birthday.  Caden ended up riding mine.  (Good thing he is getting a new one for Christmas!  Sshhh!). They bother seemed so big riding around.  We had our Sunday school party this past Sunday and the kids love singing happy birthday to Jesus.  Tonight we are going to make cookies for Santa and go look at lights.  We can't wait for tomorrow!

Pajama day 2014

Today is Polar Express (pajama day) at school.  This is one of the only times each year I buy pajamas for my kids.  Lol.  Thank goodness for this day or our Christmas Day pictures would be of them in old t-shirts and underwear!  Caden went with the Texans pjs and Paige saw these Elf on the shelf ones she just loved.    This week has seemed strange with no homework and lots of fun things to do.  We are soaking it all in.  2 more days until Christmas break!

Sunday fun day

I hate that phrase.  Lol. It is usually associated with goofing off on Sunday instead of spending it in God's house.  That said, today was a Sunday fun day for real!  We started the day with the churches choir performance. Everyone did a great job and I really enjoyed the music this year.  Caden was Joseph and Paige was a sheep in the manger scene. All the kids looked so sweet up on stage.
This evening we went to look at lights in a house near us that is a big tradition for us to go see.  We always have a fun time there.
Today was just the beginning of what should be a fun week.  Pajama day, the KOM party, and class parties are just a few things happening this week.  We are excited!

Christmas break?!?

Christmas time is my favorite time of year, but also the busiest.  I am determined not to over commit myself and keep myself from looking like this.

But try as I may I have to admit today I might have looked a little like that picture. LOL!  I might be busy but I am still making time for lots of family time and fun.  I just thought I would post some pictures of what we have been up to lately.  I am actually off of work for the kids Christmas break so I am working hard this week so I can finish all my Christmas chores so I can enjoy and actual Christmas break!

The Christmas Train

Last week I saw a post on FB about The Christmas Train.  It is a little train the goes thru lights that is put on by a church in Alvin.  Last night my parents and I took the kids to check it out.  For the price ($4 for kids/$8 for adults). I was very impressed with the entire thing.  They had yummy concessions, pictures with Santa, live music and more.  And the best part was it was all very Christ centered.
While we were waiting on our turn to ride the train we went to see the huge village they had set up.  I am a big fan of villages.  I think it reminds me of my doll houses when I was a little girl.  I love all the tiny little details.  This one was great and even had disney princesses.  The man in charge let the kids know that Waldo (Where's Waldo) was hidden in the village somewhere.  They had a blast finding him and they were told to shout Merry Chirstmas when they found him.  My picture is not very good but Caden found him and was excited to show Paige.
After some snacks it was time for the train ride.  There were the traditional ginger bread houses and Charlie Brown lights and then it took you thru the life of Christ complete with the plan of Salvation.  We really enjoyed it.
Before we left we stopped to get our picture with Santa and to see Mrs. Santa Claus. She read the story of the birth of Christ and  talked to the kids about the true meaning of Christmas.  I think Caden answered everyone of her questions.  (Proud mommy moment) lol
I have to mention the glasses that Caden is wearing in the pictures.  They were selling them for $2 and when you looked thru them it made the lights look like santas or gingerbread men.  I am easily entertained and thought they were the coolest.  Ha!
Overall it was a great evening.  I thought the church did a beautiful job of using fun to share Jesus.

It doesn't take much

Today Jimmy put up our Christmas lights on the house.  It doesn't take much for the kids to get excited.  We added a new Santa and Rudolph to the decor this year and they were so excited.  They just had to have their pictures taken next to them.  Lol. We love all things Christmas!
