That's a wrap

The first week of school is in the bag!  It was a great week.  We even fit in a back to school swim party for KOM.  The kids had a blast and I think it was a great stress relief during what can be a stressful time for the kids.  We have a long weekend for Labor Day and we are looking forward to relaxing and maybe fitting in some swim time if the weather permits.  Here are a few pictures from the week including some of Paige modeling her school clothes.  I am going to have to keep our shopping in check.  It is just so much fun especially since she enjoys it too!

Happy Birthday Caden

Thursday my baby turned 9!  He is getting so big.  Since we had already celebrated on Sunday we just had our traditional donuts for breakfast and he opened his gifts from us.  This year was pretty simple.  A bean bag chair and a skateboard.  Apparently one of his teachers lets students take turns siting in a bean bag chair and Caden was dying to get one for his room.  I think it will make for a good reading spot.  He also asked for a skateboard.  It is all he has talked about since we got home from Destin.  He was pumped and has spent every free moment since Thursday trying to learn to ride it.  I need to invest in some elbow and knee pads soon.  We have already had a few wipeouts.  Lol.
It is hard to believe he is 9.  What a sweet, smart, funny boy he is.  We love you Caden!  Happy birthday!!

First day of school 2014

Monday was back to school for the kids. I have a 1st and 3rd grader!  Not sure when or how that happened.  lol.  Caden is a seasoned pro and walked down to his class all by himself.  He didn't even look back to wave goodbye. :(. I was also informed that I should not send notes In his lunchbox this year.  Whaaa!  That one stung a little.  I guess it was bound to happen.  He is growing up and a note from mom in 3rd grade would be so embarrassing.  Lol.
Paige had a few nerves, but she did great this year.  I think it helped that her best friend is in her class this year.  Not only that but they are seated right next to each other!  It should make for an interesting year for sure.  lol. So far she says she loves first grade.  After we got home on Monday she was rushing around unpacking her backpack, emptying her lunchbox and putting her things away.  When I asked her what she was doing she said she was not in kindergarten anymore and it was time to be responsible!  Ha!  I can handle that.  And at least I still have one who wants notes in her lunchbox still.  They both had a great first week and we are looking forward to a great year!

Caden's baptism

Sunday, August 24, 2014 will be a day I will always cherish.  My sweet boy was baptized!  There are countless things as a mom you pray for your children but salvation is number one.  To know he has accepted Jesus as his savior is overwhelming.  I know God has a plan for him and we look forward to watching him grow as a follower of Christ.   It just so happened that it was the weekend before his birthday so we invited family over for a dual celebration.  Jimmy's parents were able to be here to celebrate with us which made it extra special.  It was a beautiful day worshipping at church, watching Caden make his decision public and celebrating with family.  We are beyond thankful and proud of Caden.  We love you!

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3 KJV)

Ready or Not

Well, ready or not back to school is here. This summer went by so fast.  The last two weeks have been spent getting ready for school to start.  Paige got a much needed hair cut and we love it.  Nothing drastic, but I did not realize how thin and dead the ends were.  We did some back to school shopping and the kids actually did well trying on clothes and stuff.
We did try and fit in some last minute fun.  We went to the movies and Paige and I went to a friends birthday party.  Chuck E. Cheese is always a kid favorite and add a Frozen themed party and it is a win win.  The party was a little bitter sweet because her friend is moving next week so it will be a long while before she sees her again.  It was a perfect time to have fun and say goodbye.  We will miss you Ally!  Happy birthday!

Where did summer go?

I can't believe there are less then two weeks before school starts.  This summer flew by.   I have finished back to school shopping, new backpacks have been purchased and we are waiting to see who will be Caden's and Paige's teachers this year.  I guess you could say we are ready.  I am not sure I am ready for the early wake up time but I am a little ready to be back into a routine.  This past weekend we celebrated a couple of new beginnings.  We attended a wedding and a baby shower.  I just love to see people starting a new chapter in their lives.  It brings back memories of when I was married and expecting our first baby.  Exciting times for sure.  I am embracing every new stage in our lives.  I don't want to miss anything by wishing my kids were still babies.  I think as a mom it is always bittersweet watching them grow, but there is a time and a season for everything and I don't want to miss a thing.  We are finishing our summer by just relaxing at home and spending time together.  Here are a few random pictures of our weekend.
