Nanna and Pawpaw time!

Today the kids left to go visit Jimmy's dad and stepmom, aka Nanna and Pawpaw. They usually visit them for a few days a couple of times each summer. Due to schedule conflicts and sickness they have not been yet this summer. So, Nanna asked if they could stay the entire week. Caden is up for it, but I am not sure Paige will make it. The plan is for Paige to maybe come back with Jimmy's dad on Tuesday when he comes back for work if she misses home too much. I mentioned this to her and she said she wanted to stay seven days like Caden. She is pretty determined, but I am not sure how she will do, so we will play it by ear.

I was very excited NOT to have to pack any pullups for Paige! After only a little over a week I am pretty sure I can say we are finally out of pullups at night now. The Goodnite mats I blogged about were a lifesaver the first couple of days, but now she is waking up to go potty. I guess I should say we are waking up. Lol. She wakes up and will come get me to take her. She says she is scared. I am hoping that this is a phase and will pass, but it is a small price to pay. We were very excited to mark that off our list. I did send a few mats for Nanna to put on her bed just incase the change in routine causes her to have an accident. Way to go Paige!

I won't lie I sometimes look forward to a little me time when the kids get ready to leave. But when they actually do I miss them terribly and don't know what to do with myself. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Paige will want to come home early. Lol. Am I crazy?

They always have so much fun and I know this time will not be any different.

Family dinners

It has been awhile, but tonight we officially started our weekly family dinners again. Taco soup and dirt cake were on the menu at my house. It was great to have everyone together. Sometimes not everyone can be there and sometimes it is come and go, but it is our effort to keep everyone connected and spend some time together. I always look forward to them and hope this is a tradition we continue for a long time!

Sticking with it

Well, it is 11:21 at night. What am I doing? Folding laundry. I thought about just moving the basket into the closet, but then I thought of my goal list. Not to mention I have been having trouble sleeping so why not? Notice, even the dog is asleep. Lol. I will be glad I did it tomorrow, right?

Let's do this!

I was looking at our bucket lists today and thinking to myself we have pretty much marked everything off. Then I looked at our personal goal list. There is only one thing hanging over my head. Getting Paige out of pullups. Jimmy and I were talking today and I just confessed to him that I was really being lazy. The kids have both been sleeping in Caden's room this summer and I pretty much just gave up on the idea. But, tonight is the night. I broke the news to Paige and she is not happy to go back to sleeping in her own bed. So, looks like now I will be dealing with two issues. Lol. I bought this new product called GoodNites bed mats. I am hoping this will at least keep me from having to change the sheets if she has an accident. Wish me luck!

And how is my bucket list going? I was doing fairly well keeping up with the laundry till this past week. Let's just say tonight I will spend quite a bit of time folding. ;). I am still trying to lose my last 20 lbs. I am afraid my poor trainer is going to give up on me. In all honesty I have been eating poorly. I am ready to get back on the horse. Not to mention I need to start training for the half marathon!

I looked a few training schedules up today so like I said... Let's do this!

Back to the future

Today we took the kids to roller skate at Skateworld. We met Tami and Brayden and several of his friends there. It brought back so many memories. It was the place to hang out when I was a kid. I thought about skating, but decided I did not feel like breaking a leg today. Ha!

Neither of the kids could skate. Learning to skate was #2 on our summer bucket list and after getting our free passes from the summer reading program we decided it was time to learn. I think after today Caden can mark it off the list. He took several hard falls, but ended up getting the hang of it and loved it. A little more practice and he will be skating good.

Paige enjoyed it, but man she was slow! They will tighten the little skates for you so she was really just walking. She was afraid to fall and after awhile decided to just watch.

It was a lot of fun to watch all the kids. I kept thinking it felt like it was just yesterday when I was in their place. Man, time flies!

Rainy day fort

Yesterday it rained most of the day. I was trying unsuccessfully to get some work done. The kids were restless and after reading, coloring, making cookies and game time they were not making it easy for me to work. So we decided to make a fort. Why did I not do this sooner? It kept them busy for hours. Amy and I loved making forts as kids and it brought back a lot of memories. Squeaky even enjoyed some time in the fort. Paige wanted to sleep in the fort, but we decided to do that on a night when no one had to work the next day.

Trip to the park

Today we went to the park with Amy, Sam, and D.J. They had fun riding scooters and just being together. I love seeing them grow up together!
